Sermorelin

What is sermorelin and how does it work?

Sermorelin is a peptide composed of 29 amino acids that is structurally similar to growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). Sermorelin works by mimicking the action of GHRH and by binding to receptors in the brain that trigger the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. It is important to note that sermorelin is not growth hormone itself, but rather it stimulates the body’s own growth hormone production. We also offer sermorelin compounded with glycine. Glycine is an amino acid that can also act as a neurotransmitter. Research has shown that it can also help to stimulate the pituitary gland to secrete growth hormone without increasing prolactin levels. When sermorelin and glycine are coupled together, they work synergistically, and their effectiveness is maximized.

What are the benefits of sermorelin injections for anti-aging?

Sermorelin therapy is an increasingly popular anti-aging treatment, and for good reason. It can improve our overall health and well-being as we age. By injecting sermorelin, we can help to restore the levels of growth hormone in our bodies, which can lead to several anti-aging benefits. In a recent study, a group of middle-aged and elderly individuals was given sermorelin therapy for a period of six months. At the end of the study, the participants experienced significant improvements in their physical and mental health, as well as in their overall sense of well-being. The participants reported feeling more energetic, sleeping better, having better skin and hair, and feeling more mentally sharp. They also reported a decrease in wrinkles, joint pain, and body fat.

Here is a timeline of what to expect with therapy:

Month 1

  • Increased energy
  • Improved stamina
  • Deeper, more restful sleep

Month 2

  • Improved skin, reduced wrinkles
  • Stronger nails and hair
  • Increased metabolism

Month 3

  • Enhanced sex drive and performance
  • Improved mental focus
  • Improved joint health

Month 4

  • Continued weight reduction
  • Improved skin elasticity
  • Increased lean muscle mass

Month 5

  • Noticeably fuller and healthier hair
  • Reduced appearance of wrinkles, better skin tone
  • Continued reduction in belly fat

Month 6

  • 5 – 10% reduction in body fat (without exercise/diet)
  • 10% increase in lean muscle mass
  • Improved vitality due to organ regrowth

How do I take sermorelin?

Sermorelin is taken as a subcutaneous injection using an insulin-type needle, administered 5 out of 7 nights per week. For increased efficacy, administer at least 90 minutes post last caloric intake. Therapy typically is indicated for 6 months continuously to have maximum results. If desired, patients can continue therapy or take a short reprieve before starting again. Therapy can be safely stopped at any time and the body’s growth hormone levels will just return to pre-treatment levels.

Is sermorelin therapy better than hormone replacement therapy?

In short, no. These therapies are used for different reasons. At Dima Wellness, we consider them as synergistic treatments rather than alternatives to one another. Our patients have had great success combining bioidentical HRT with sermorelin therapy.

Side effects of sermorelin injections

Though sermorelin therapy is a relatively new anti-aging therapy, studies have shown that sermorelin therapy is safe and effective. While sermorelin injections are well-tolerated by most, there are a few potential side effects to be aware of. These include:

  • Injection site reactions: The most common side effect is a local site reaction after injection including redness, mild swelling, and minimal pain at the injection site. Of note, the needle used to inject sermorelin is an insulin-type syringe which is very small.
  • Facial Flushing: Approximately 50% of people will feel (and possibly see) a flushing of their face after an injection. This is not harmful and lasts about 10 minutes.
  • Headache/Dizziness: Some people may experience headaches or dizziness after sermorelin injections. This is due to the body’s reaction to the increased levels of HGH and should subside with time.

Am I a candidate for sermorelin therapy?

While most people are candidates for sermorelin therapy, anyone with a history of cancer in the last 5 years or with present cancers should not take sermorelin. Each patient is unique and should consult with a healthcare professional prior to starting therapy.
