What Is Pellet Therapy?

Pellets are small, dissolvable, custom-compounded therapies containing hormones used to treat symptoms that stem from hormonal imbalances. Using pellets may help keep a person’s hormone levels consistent throughout the day avoiding peaks and troughs in blood levels. The pellet therapy that we use contains hormones that are bioidentical to those found in the human body. During pellet therapy, pellets are inserted subcutaneously into the body in a quick, painless, in-office procedure that takes about 20 minutes. These pellets will gradually be absorbed, dispersing hormones throughout the body.

What Is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Pellet Therapy?

As we age, the production of hormones can be affected. Too much or too little of a hormone can have effects on the body, ranging from moderate to severe. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) may help relieve the symptoms of hormonal imbalance by bringing hormones back to their optimal levels. “Bioidentical” hormones are defined as substances that have the exact chemical and molecular structure as hormones that are produced naturally in our body. Using the Biote Method, we will assess your hormone levels in your blood to develop a customized treatment plan to optimize your levels using bioidentical hormone replacement pellet therapy.

Why Should I Do Pellet Therapy vs. Topical?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) can come in oral, topical and pellet forms. BHRT using pellets offers consistent administration and may help minimize rollercoaster-like effects from other modes of treatment.

How Long Does a BHRT Pellet Take to Work?

Each BHRT patient’s symptoms are unique; so is each patient’s path to hormone optimization. Most hormone therapy patients report some relief in as little as four weeks if not sooner, but full optimization may take up to six months or more. Some report feeling the most benefits after their second pellet treatment.

How Often Will I Have to be Pelleted?

Optimal hormone balance for men typically requires two to three pellet insertions per year. For women, it typically requires three to four insertions per year. Treatments are customized and depend on the patient’s symptoms and bloodwork and may result in fewer or more insertions per year.
